About

Hi, I'm Sage.
I currently work full time as the assistant program director of the domestic violence department of a local nonprofit agency that primarily focuses on the homeless population. I was previously working for their domestic violence shelter for the past 2 years, but had been volunteering for them since 2016. Domestic violence awareness and prevention is my passion.
I'm a published poet and author, and have experience editing for literary publications such as the Great Lake Review and Subnivean. I have been published to GLR and The Gandy Dancer. My poems primarily explore themes of trauma and healing. I have a BA in creative writing.
My hobbies include photography, video games, art, and emotional support. I am mod bun on @traumasurvivorshelpingsurvivors, Read my mod bio here. I also run @agirldying. More info about that blog here. You may also find me on Kokobot and Heartsupport.
I am open about the fact that I am a DV/COCSA survivor with OSDD. I want to spread awareness and hopefully help normalize these things.

I don't expect everyone on this list to respect my boundaries but nonetheless I think it's still important for you to know my stances and take informed action on whether or not to interact with me.

my beliefs

  • i resonate with the term radinclus (radically inclusive of all good-faith identities). i do not believe in the right to dictate someone else's identity or personal experience in any capacity, which includes self diagnosis, gender identity, sexual orientation, plurality, etc. if you tell me you identify as something, i don't feel it is my right to disagree (with exception to transrace, transabled, etc). i am pro-endogenic for those reasons. i don't understand therians/otherkin (i can understand resonating with an animal but not believing you are one), however i would not treat them differently. i have much more important things to worry about in my life than how someone else identifies.

  • i am aggressively pro-trans (despite being a detransitioner) though i also understand criticism of gender roles and those who feel ftm or mtf enforce these stereotypes. i recognize that harry potter is a foundational piece of many's childhood, and believe it is possible to engage mindfully in harry potter material (pirating/stealing/not paying for it, liking harry potter for harry potter only).

  • i do not believe that abortion is murder. i believe that abortion can be life-saving and necessary even if morally complex.

  • i believe that most vaccinations are in the best interest of one's immune system, as well as the health of those around them.

  • i don't necessarily believe that women have it worse than men or vice versa, i believe that men and women have unique struggles and advantages, and that each sex focuses on the struggles the opposite sex refuses to acknowledge. for example, i believe that misogyny is a major issue for women, and i also believe that mental health support is a major issue for men.

  • i believe that domestic violence occurs primarily in heterosexual relationships with male perpetrators. i worked in a domestic violence shelter for 2 years (and have access to our demographic statistics since 2008) and the data we have supports this (domestic violence statistics are partially calculated by aggregate shelter demographic data).

  • if you struggle with an eating disorder, particularly anorexia, tumblr is not a safe place for you and insisting otherwise is dangerous.

  • i believe that the best way to stop pedophilia is somewhere between accountability and rehabilitation. i believe that society gives too much power to pedophiles through fearmongering rhetoric that inadvertently harms marginalized communities, especially the LGBT community, making pedophilia the absolute worst thing someone could be accused of and thereby inciting witch trials. while heinous, granting such power to the concept also grants power to pedophiles by association. i also believe that the magnitude of shame directed at anyone remotely concerned with the possibility of having pedophilic-leaning thoughts ends up a) worsening the conditions of those with POCD and 2) encouraging pedophiles to find more covert ways to commit crime. i also believe there's a huge difference in thought vs action, and do not believe in thought policing, therefore my main concern is about offending pedophiles (i.e "pro contact"). overall it is clearly a delicate and complex issue that requires a nuanced approach.

  • related to thought police, i am "proship" in terms of live and let live. as a CSA survivor myself, a fictional depiction is incomparable to the real thing, though the motives may be questionable. that being said, i do not believe in the right to criticize any healthy ways to cope with trauma, which includes exploring trauma through art and creative writing.

  • i believe that abuse can contribute to a change or shift in gender identity or sexual orientation. this does not mean that i believe in the principles of conversion therapy (dumbfounded i have to clarify this), as i do not believe that such change is necessarily good (it's not bad either, it's just a change). some women become gay or asexual after sexual abuse and that's okay. some women become men after sexual abuse and that's okay. some of those women reconnect with their initial identities at their own pace, and that's okay too. vice versa (doesn't just apply to women ofc, just examples). i don't believe that anyone's post-trauma identity is bad, unless they find that it only causes further harm. but that is their own journey. healing should not be rushed.

  • i believe that the term "narcissistic abuse" is redundant and harmful to people with narcissistic personality disorder. while narcissistic can refer to traits and not the disorder, the two cannot truly be separated by using this term. i do not believe that abuse is due to mental illness, though it becomes grey to me when one is out of touch with reality (i.e psychosis). i believe that while it can be influenced by mental illness, abuse is ultimately a choice one makes. i believe that insisting abuse is a choice allows accountability to exist, instead of blaming it on a disorder they had no choice in suffering from. i believe that narcissistic abuse is just psychological and emotional abuse, and that abuse by definition is selfish, so saying narcissistic abuse to me is like saying selfish abuse (redundant).

  • i feel that lolita, coquettecore and angelcore romanticize incestuous and pedophilic themes by promoting infantilized femininity.

  • i believe in freedom of religion, especially when it comes to preaching and conversion. i resonate with people with religious trauma syndrome and post-xtian agnosticism.

  • i believe that LGBT infighting distracts from the true common enemy - i am pretty much inclusive of everything, asexual, pansexual, transgender, intersex, LGBTQIAAP+ etc. just not clovergender and other harmful identities disguised as a valid identity.

  • i believe in the right to coexist with anyone regardless of their beliefs as long as we respect each other's opinions. while i believe human rights are not a matter of debate, i believe that the best way to come to a mutual understanding about what is included in human rights requires curiosity and compassion for alternative perspective.
